JAMMU, June 19: Various Kashmiri Pandit organizations have taken serious exception to the Union Government’s decision of not inviting the representatives of the Kashmiri Pandits in June 24 talks with Prime Minister on Kashmir. The KP bodies said it is unfortunate that Union Government should have given first priority to the hapless community in the talks as KPs are main stakeholders of the issue and worst victims of Pak sponsored terrorism leading an exiled life for last 32 years.
Panun Kashmir Political Affairs Committee (PAC) held an emergency meeting here today showing their grave concern for not inviting any of the community representative in proposed meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Variender Raina president, Panun Kashmir (PK). Among others who attended it included Upinder Koul, general secretary, Kamal Bagati general secretary (Org), Ashok Chrungoo, P K Bhan, Kewal Krishan Koul and P K Durani.
President, PK , Virender Raina while addressing the meeting said that any meeting on Kashmir without KPs is like watching Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark.
He added that Kashmiri Pandits have a unique and primary factorial importance and any meeting or discussion on Kashmir without the involvement of KPs would be incomplete.
General secretary, Kamal Bagati said that Kashmiri Pandits have serious issues related to their permanent settlement in Kashmir in accordance with their geo political aspirations and also immediate livelihood and economic issues that need resolution. The KP issues should have primacy in any discussion on Kashmir.
There are only two unsettled issues in Kashmir, one is the resettlement of the KP aborigines and the other the reclamation of POJK. Once these two issues are addressed rest all will fall in place, he added.
Maintaining that KPs are the main stake holders of Kashmir, All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCC) said any dialogue or any all parties meet without KPs is meaningless. Elections are no solution to the problem, president AIMCCC, Desh Rattan said. He said KPs the real stakeholders are leading an exiled life for over 32 years and ignoring them in talks indicates the Union Government is not interested in settlement of this hapless community or dispensation of justice to it by restoring the community its homeland.
The AIMCCC leaders wanted to know how long the community will live refugees in their own country.
A group of social activists led Dr Ramesh also questioned the Union Government’s stoic silence on settlement of displaced Pandits who are the worst victims of terrorism. He said by not inviting the community representatives in the talks it showed that present Central Government at Centre has no concrete action plan for rehabilitation of the community.
PK convener, Dr Agnishekhar while showing his concern termed it total sell out by ignoring the Kashmiri Pandits the main stake holders to Kashmir issue. He said the UPA First and IInd during its three round table conferences gave full recognition to KPs in these meeting while the present Government has totally ignored the community which is a betrayal.
He said it indicates the present Government was deliberately ignoring Kashmiri Pandits and inviting the trouble shooters and those responsible for their genocide to the talks which is unfortunate.
