KPs for action against encroachers of temples, shrines land in Valley

JAMMU, July 3: Temples and Shrines Management Board, Kashmir, Save Temples of Kashmir Movement and other affiliated organizations in a meeting here, today under the presidentship of Bushan Lal Bhan discussed the present position of shrines and temples in Kashmir valley in view of the chaotic conditions prevailing there.
The meeting expressed concern over the action of some vested elements who sold property of a cremation ground in Valley.
The meeting said that some vested and anti social elements are hell bent upon changing the ground position of the land and other properties belonging to temples,  shrines  and  cremation grounds in Kashmir and demanded that these elements who want to erase the cultural and religious identity of Pandits be dealt under law sternly.
It demanded that the Government should take Suo Moto notice of it and lodge FIR against these anti social elements.
The members also expressed concern over the deplorable condition of some important temples like Drabyar Mandir, Srinagar and Ganesh Mandir Hanand Chawalgam in South Kashmir district of Kulgam and demanded that till the Government takes a decision regarding passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Management Bill it should provide Central security forces cover to all the Hindus shrines and temples in Valley to install a sense of security among the KPs.
The meeting said recently president Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee, Bharat Bushan Bhat and vice president of Temples and Shrines Management Board, B L Jalali held a meeting with MOS Tourism, Culture and Education Priya Sethi and apprised her of the situation. They also handed over a memorandum to her seeking immediate intervention of Government in saving the Hindu Shrines and temples which are cultural monuments of Kashmir.
