KPGC condemns FIR against KP activist

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 25: The Kashmiri Pandit Global Community (KPGC) organized a teleconference call to discuss and register protest against the malicious FIR lodged against eminent KP activist and speaker Sushil Pandit by J&K Police over an innocent tweet.
Over 800 people from various countries in five continents participated in the one-and-a-half-hour-long call.
The teleconference began with Sushil Pandit navigating the participants through the circumstances that led to his tweet the substance of which he picked up in a conference on Kashmir in Delhi. He later realized that the information was inaccurate and deleted it. This did not stop Omar Abdullah from responding with a malicious rejoinder or the J&K Police from taking punitive action.
Various speakers from India, North America, Europe and Australia expressed misgivings about the J&K Police’s recent policy of ignoring threatening, abusive and anti-national social media posts/tweets emanating from the Kashmir valley while needlessly targeting and harassing Kashmiri Hindu refugees.
They said this is seen as a deliberate attempt to gag prominent voices from our community who are educating the world about the genocidal killings and forced exodus of 350,000 Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s.
The Speakers Rakesh Kaul (USA), Hira Fotedar (USA), Dr Ajay Chrungoo (India), Kamal Hak (India), Prof Renuka Dhar (India), Dr. Shafalica Bhan Kotwal (UK), Ashok Kaul (Canada) and Veerji Wangoo (Europe) demanded that the FIR against Sushil Pandit should be immediately dismissed and J&K Police should take stern action against the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for willfully misrepresenting Sushil Pandit’s tweet.
The event was moderated by Anil Kachroo (USA) and coordinated by Surinder Kaul (USA).
