KPDCL officials attached for laxity in power supply

Srinagar, Apr 19: Taking serious note of laxity in electric supply during Iftar and Sehri times in Srinagar district, the Government today ordered attachment of AEE, Bemina and AE Zakoora in the office of Managing Director, KPDCL with immediate effect.
“The officers of KPDCL will be attached till the time a detailed enquiry is conducted on the issue,” the Government said.
Pertinent to mention here that Excelsior had today reported on the power crisis hitting hard Kashmir valley with people facing immense trouble during Iftar and Sehri time due to power outage.
It has been a routine since the day Ramadhan started that people began complaining about the erratic power supply in their respective areas. People had been complaining about the recent hike in the monthly dues rueing that despite increased hike they are forced to witness power outages.
People from almost every part of Kashmir were irritated due to the unscheduled power cuts particularly during Sehri and Iftar when there is a maximum requirement of electricity.
The Govt regarding the attachments of the officer said: “It may be recalled that several public grievances about disruptions in power supply during Iftar and Sehri times had been received from these areas.”
The Government has directed the Managing Director, KPDCL and Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir to personally monitor the supply of electricity and ensure no disruptions.
