KPC, PK condemn encroachment of temples’ land in Valley

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 22: Kashmiri Pandit Conference led by Kundan Kashmiri and Pannun Kashmir (PK) led by its president Vijay Bhat have strongly condemned the desecration and damage of an ancient Shiva Temple in Rainawari, Srinagar and also encroachment of another Temple land which is just 50 meters away from the desecrated temple.
The two organisations in their separate meetings at Delhi and here respectively have urged the Government to restore the temples’ land and take drastic action against the land grabbers and mafia.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmir said that the act has hurt the sentiments of the Kashmiri Pandits and it also puts a question mark on the so -called return and rehabilitation move of displaced Pandits set in motion by the Government. He said when the Government is unable and has completely failed to protect the religious places of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley which are the cultural monuments representing the thousands years of rich Hindu culture, how can it ensure safety and security to the minorities on their return to Kashmir.
In a meeting held in Jammu the convenor of the PK, Ravinder Jalali strongly condemned the sacrilegious act on both these places and appealed to the Government to take stern action against these anti-social and anti-national elements. There seems to be some conspiracy going on to disrupt the return and rehabilitation process of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley, he added.
He said the Government must act swiftly to return the sanctity of temple to restore the confidence of Kashmiri Pandits.
