JAMMU, Mar 7: KPC Chief Kundan Kashmiri has expressed grave resentment over the failure of the State Government to provide basic facility like ration to the displaced Kashmiri Pandits as well as salaries to P.M. package employees in the Valley in time and before the Shivratri festival, in spite of the appeals made well in time to the Government by his and other KP organizations.
In a statement issued here today he said KPs were expecting lot of improvement in public distribution system during the present dispensation at State and Center , but it is total shocking that KPs were denied ration even on the important festival of MahaShivratri.
He said that ration is the basic need which should have been supplied without much hue and cry, but it was most unfortunate to see the negligence on the CAPD to provide ration to the displaced community.
Kundan Kashmiri further said that the launching of the Food Security Act should not have been a hindrance for the CAPD to release ration items to the Kashmiri Pandits, who had to celebrate their sacred festival of MahaShivratri. Treating this action of the concerned Department as callous, Kundan Kashmiri said that denial of ration to the displaced community is a big human rights violation.
He also claimed that Food Security Act has nothing to do for restraining the release of ration to the community as the amount incurred for ration supply to the Pandit community is debited to security related expenditure.
He warned Government that if displaced Pandits were not given ration on the bases of old scale they will be forced to come out on the streets.
Meanwhile NC leader Ghulam Nabi, PCC Migrant Cell co convener Ghulam Qadir and ex Sarpanch Nana Ji Raina have also expressed grave concern over denying ration to migrants on holy festival of Maha Shivratri.
Ghulam Nabi and Mr Qadir said that they were shocked to hear that the members of Pandit Biradri were deprived of ration on the holy festival by the present Government on the pretext of NFSA which has totally been rejected by the people of the State.
