JAMMU, Mar 9: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) held a protest meeting under the chairmanship of its President Kundan Kashmiri.
During the meeting, the participants expressed concern over withholding of ration supplies to the Kashmiri Pandit displaced community from the last two months and put this community to lot of difficulties in celebrating the Maha Shivratri. They condemned and criticized the attitude and policies of the Government and its concerned authorities.
Kundan Kashmiri clarified to the State and Central Governments that KP displaced community neither fall in APL nor in BPL categories, but in the category of Internally Displaced People (IDP) and enforcing NFSA on this community is grave injustice as well against the Government of India’s parliament decision to provide relief and ration to Kashmiri Displaced people after hounding them out from their homes and hearths in the valley in 1989-90 for which Government of India is providing separate funds to the J&K Government regularly from the last twenty six years.
He completely rejected supply of only 5 kg rice under the scheme of NFSA to Kashmiri displaced people and appealed the State and Central Governments for ensuring release of ration in favor of displaced KPs on the basis as it was being provided since displacement of the community. The participants also submitted a protest note to Home Ministry and Relief Commissioner (M) in this regard.
In the meeting, Kundan Kashmir demanded separate “Kashyap Bhoomi” to 7 lakh Kashmiri Pandits at the land of Kashyap in Kashmir valley with writ of Indian constitution and abrogation of Article 370, which is pre-condition for their return and rehabilitation in the valley. He also demanded IDP status to the displaced KPs and grant of one time compensation of losses suffered by the community during last twenty six years of displacement due to damages to their properties in Kashmir Valley.
KPC activists who attended and spoke during the meet were RL Raina, Secretary KPC, Susheel Ji Bhat, Organising Secretary KPC, PN Mattoo, Chief Coordinator KPC, SL Zuthsi, Ashok, Rinku Raina, Surrender and Rajesh Raina.
