JAMMU, Mar 8: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) in a meeting at Delhi today said that the community had pinned high hopes that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during his visit to Kashmir may talk about the permanent rehabilitation of exiled Pandits in their homeland which the community has been demanding right from day one of its exodus.
“We had full hope that PM during his rally at Bakshi Stadium today may make mention of the plight of exiled Pandits, the main victims of over three decades long turmoil and who were forced to leave their homes and hearths by extremists and Pakistani agents on gunpoint for showing loyalty to their mother land India,” said Kundan Kashmiri president of the organization while addressing the meeting.
Kashmiri said “The Pandits were hopeful that there will be an end to their plight with Modi Government which is going to announce schemes and projects worth several thousand crores in Kashmir, will also make an announcement on rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley in accordance to their geo political aspirations but our hopes have been dashed to ground,” he added.
Kashmiri said KPs have welcomed the PM’s visit with high expectations. He said BJP should also make it clear in its manifesto of Lok Sabha elections that what steps the party after coming to power is going to take for the rehabilitation of this community which is craving for return to their homeland.
He said it is unfortunate that the successive governments put the issue of Pandits in limbo which added to the miseries of community. Kashmiri, while reiterating one place settlement by carving out Kashyap State within Valley said this is the only viable solution to the Pandits problem to which Government of India should pay heed now.
