Sir,
This has a reference to Dr K N Pandita’s write-up, in this paper on 10th Oct. The writeup is a straight talk of a common Kashmiri Pandit. The writer’s dig on the powers at the State and the Centre is artistic. For example “The proud pandits have nothing more to lose if their return is delayed by another half a centuary”.
The core issues identified are genuine, realistic, logical and would be foundation for lasting and secure rehabilitation of the community in the Valley. The learned writer has correctly remarked that definition of secularism has to be made through prism of Valley Muslim leadership of all hues. The reality is that the majority community in the Valley is now a changed lot.
Gone are the days when Gandhiji the “Bapu” had seen a ray of hope in Kashmir about communal harmony and mutual brother-hood in the times of crisis. Now-a-days the social media the “facebook” presents a horrifying picture to the viewers about the mindset of the youth of the majority community in the matter of communal harmony and mutual brotherhood.
Dr Sahib has educated and alarmed the community of pandits to remain vigilant about false promises and fake concessions to the returnees. The community is hundred percent literate and educated, they need to display the maximum restraint in the matter of return to Valley. Any petty mistake in this issue can prove counterproductive and even suicidal. We appreciate Dr Sahib for his capacity of writing and projecting the public issues in a logical manner.
Yours etc…
