JAMMU, Apr 9: Kashmiri Pandit organizations have expressed grave concern over delay in payment of cash relief to migrants.
The leaders of Vishaw Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) and Jagti Migrants Welfare Movement (JMWM) in their separate statements have urged the Government to settle the issues confronted the displaced people from valley without further delay.
A team led by senior community leader, M.K. Yogi and general secretary, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj and Vinod Pandita president JKDKPF visited various migrant camps and non camps to enquire about the hardships being faced by them for delay in payment of monthly cash assistance.
The migrants complained that due to technical fault of NAFSA form at the administration end, they are facing huge problems in obtaining ration and there is brewing resentment among the community for non seriousness of the concerned Department to tackle this grave issue
Both Yogi and Pandita appealed Government to immediately issue the ration coups on old pattern till the technical difficulties of NAFSA form at their end are streamlined.
They also appealed that monthly cash assistance which is still at large be also released forthwith as most of the migrants are dependent on it and have chronic ailing patients to look after. They demanded that migrants be allowed to avail the provision of cash in lieu of ration.
They appealed Government of India to enhance monthly relief from Rs 13000 to Rs 25000 keeping in view the sky rocketing prices.
The others who accompanied the team were Vishal Jotshi, Kamal Krishan Ganjoo, Ashutosh Pandita, Vinod Bhat, Ashwani Bhat, Tej Krishan Dhar, Anil Bhan, Shuban Krishan, Sanjay Raina, Ashok Kumar Koul and others.
The Jagti Migrants Welfare Movement (JMWM) also urged authorities to release the pending cash assistance for March and improve living conditions in the Jagti township.
The JMWM has expressed grave concern over delay in disbursement of cash assistance and interrupted water supply as people were facing lots of hardships due to financial constraints.
Taking a dig at authorities JMWM convener, Sunil Pandita while addressing a meeting at Jagti township, said that men at helms have been always against migrants interests for one reason or the other. Those who are dependent on cash assistance, how can they cope with their daily problems when their relief was not disbursed in time.
The meeting also raised problem of interrupted drinking water Supply to the Jagti township. It said the water supply to the township has been improper since a long and despite spending over crores of rupees on this project no progress has been achieved so far.
