JAMMU: The residents of Ward Number 4 are facing some many problems due to lack of basic amenities.
The Ward faced manifold issues including water scarcity, sewerage problem, unscheduled power cuts, insanitary conditions and deplorable condition of lanes and drains.
The Ward comprised areas including Pacca Danga, Fattu Chougan, Sabzi Mandi, Moti Bazaar, Link Road and Raj Tilak Road.
In this Ward, people faced manifold problems on account of shortage of drinking water. The worst suffers of water shortage are women, who fail to carry out daily routine without sufficient quantity of water.
“Water is not being supplied on daily basis in our Wards, which creates problems for us”. Sunil Sharma, a resident said, adding that contaminated water is being supplied in our Ward, which is a matter of serious concern and needs immediate attention.
“Unscheduled power cuts have made the life of the people quite miserable. This issue needs to be resolved on permanent basis”, Munish Gupta, a resident said.
Lanes and drains in this Ward also need attention of the authorities. Choked drains have led to sewerage problems in many areas of this Ward and may lead to a health hazard.
“In our Ward, the lanes and drains need to be repaired immediately. Choked drains should be cleaned for the free flow of water, which comes out of the houses”, Madhu Gupta said.
When all these issues were taken up with the newly elected Corporator of Ward Number 4 Sunita Koul asserted that people have given her mandate and it is her duty to redress all the issues in her Ward whether it is water scarcity, unscheduled power cuts or any other issues.
All the issues including scarcity of drinking water viz supply of contaminated water, insanitary conditions, unscheduled power cuts, etc will be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal.
For the overall development of the Ward, the Corporator funds will be utilized, she said, adding that people will be made aware about the benefits of the schemes launched by the State and Central Government.
Koul said that the ration card of the BPL families will be made, adding that old age and widow pension forms will be filled to provide relief to the beneficiaries.
“I visit the areas in my Ward on daily basis and listen the grievances of the people”, she said, adding that the issues put forth by the people will be taken up with the concerned department for redressal.
“I joined the BJP party around 13 years back and remained Ward President for several years”, she informed.
