Kissan Morcha seeks compensation for farmers, distribution of paddy seed

JAMMU, May 18: Expressing concern over the losses suffered by farming community, J&K BJP Kisan Morcha has demanded payment of adequate compensation to the affected farmers besides distribution of seeds of good varieties of Paddy.
Addressing a meeting, wherein members discussed various problems being faced by the farmers of J&K, Kisan Morcha president Omi Khajuria said farmers affected by Ring Road and widening of Akhnoor Road should also be paid immediately on new rates.
The farming community has suffered losses due to lockdown, he said adding that Government should release of compensation to the affected farmers.
He further said that seeds of Basmati 370 and other varieties of paddy should be provided to the farmers as the sowing season has started. Khajuria also demanded establishment of a Sugar mill in Jammu or Kathua.
Kisan Morcha president expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for announcing Rs 20 lakh crore stimulus package to revive economy, as it will boost efficiency of various sectors through reforms and make India a country which is self reliant and resilient. The slew of measures announced by Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman under “Aatam Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan” announced by the Prime Minister, the farming community of J&K is going to get benefitted immensely, he stated.
The office bearers who attended the meeting included Raman Singh and Rohit Verma, general secretaries; Ram Lal Sharma, vice president; Ajeet Singh Salthia, spokesman; Ashok Kumar Kerni, Mandal president; Yash Paul Seth, Ankush Choudhry, Vijay Kumar, Narinder Singh, Harpreet Singh and others.
