KATHUA, June 10: Kathua police today apprehended the kingpin behind the recent job racket in the town who had duped the poor people of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs abroad.
According to SSP Kathua Mohan Lal, Police achieved major success after arresting an interstate criminal namely Sanjeev Kumar, son of Kulveer Singh resident of Hoshiarpur who fradulently taken lakhs of rupees of the district with the assurance of providing jobs to them.
He said that Sanjeev had opened a fake job seeking company for unemployed youths in Shastri Nagar ward number 3 of Kathua and had deceived about 50 to 60 people and duped them of about Rs 70 lakhs.
The SSP said, when people of the area got suspicious about his activities and after he failed to their demands in time, they approached the police who started searching the accused.
SSP said he constituted a team to apprehend the culprit and also arranged a decoy customer at Lakhanpur and trapped the accused.
He said a case FIR number 160/2014 under Section 420 RPC was registered at Police Station Kathua on the complainant of one Ravi Dutt Sharma son of Late Chand Lal Sharma resident of Kundey Chack Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua, and investigation started.
