SRINAGAR, July 29: In order to acquaint Government employees with the precautionary measures to prevent fire incidents and use of fire fighting equipment, a 3-day workshop started at the Legislative Council Secretariat here this morning. The workshop has been organized by General Administration Department (GAD) in coordination with Security Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police and required assistance from State Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services.
Inaugurated by Minister of State for Home, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, the workshop is attended by senior experts from Directorate of Fire Services, New Delhi and a large number of Governments employees from all ranks representing 37 Departments of State Government.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Kichloo highlighted the importance of the preventive measures to be adopted in case of fire outbreak. He said that fire engulfs a huge property within seconds endangering human lives and precious properties, office records. It is the need of hour to acquaint the officials with the preventive measures and use of fire fighting equipments during the fire incidents, he added.
Making a reference of the recent fire incident in Civil Secretariat, the MoS disclosed that the Government has decided to organize such workshops which could help generating awareness among the employees about the use of latest fire fighting equipment besides preventive measures to avoid such incidents. He stressed for use of latest techniques and equipment in fighting the fire incidents and evacuating the inmates when such incident occurs.
Senior experts from Directorate of Fire Services New Delhi, Sanjay Tomar and Baljeet Kumar delivered lectures to the participants about the importance of advance preventive measures to avoid incidents. They also shared valuable tips to avoid major damages to human lives and properties in such incidents.
Earlier, Secretary GAD, Mushtaq Ahmed threw light on the aims and objectives for organizing the workshop.
Among others, the function was attended by Additional Director General of Police (Security) J&K, V. K. Singh, DIG (Security), M.M. Saidq, SP (Security) Civil Secretariat, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, CPO, Laeeq Ahmed (Nodel Officer of Workshop), senior officers from Civil Secretariat and other departments.
