JAMMU, Feb 19: Governor NN Vohra would administer oath of office and secrecy to first Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) of the State, Kuldeep Khoda on February 22 at 5 pm at Raj Bhawan.
First Vigilance Commissioner Ashok Jerath would also be administered oath at the same time.
Official sources said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his Cabinet colleagues, leaders from opposition parties besides senior bureaucrats would attend oath ceremony of Mr Khoda and Mr Jerath.
With the oath ceremony, the office of the first ever CVC would start functioning in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the act of legislation, there had to be two Vigilance Commissioners in addition to the CVC. MS Khan, a retired IAS officer, whose name the Government had recommended for the second Vigilance Commissioner, had opted out of the race on personal grounds.
The Government was yet to take a decision on second Vigilance Commissioner, sources said.
Mr Khoda, an IPS officer, had retired as Director General of Police on May 31 last year while Mr Jerath, an IAS officer, has retired as Financial Commissioner in April last year.
