JAMMU, Aug 12: Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its president Advocate M L Thusoo expressed concern over the failure of the successive Governments in rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life for last 26 years.
The meeting said that in view of the deteriorating situation in Valley where the separatists and terrorists are calling shots again, the Government should frame a concrete policy for the rehabilitation of displaced people from Valley as how long they will remain in camps and will be deprived of their basic rights of life.
Mr Thusoo while strongly advocating for carving out of separate homeland for the seven lakh displaced people within Valley said that it was the only viable solution to the sufferings of exiled Pandits. He said the Union Government should now take a bold step in this regard. He also strongly advocated for abrogation of Article 370 giving special status to the State.
Addressing the meeting P L Koul Budgami convener, KHC said Article 370 was the root cause of all mess in the State and mass exodus of Pandits. He said the Union Government should act tough against the separatists and terrorists otherwise the situation will go beyond the control. The increasing terrorist violence is an indication in this regard, he added.
