Khawas PHC without adequate Medical staff, Ambulance

RAJOURI, Dec 24: The remote Khawas Primary Health Centre (PHC) in district Rajouri is without Ambulance while two posts of doctors and several others of Medical staff are lying vacant since long.
Sources said that out of the sanctioned 16 posts in this hospital including an ambulance driver, hardly 7 staffers are in place. Against the four posts of doctors including a Medical Officer and a Dental surgeon, only one Ayurvedic doctor is posted at this PHC which cater to the population of over 50,000 souls. There is no Ambulance in this remotest hospital, one a small Maruti Van type Ambulance was provided against the wishes of the people is lying out of order. The driver of this hospital has been deputed to Nowshera hospital for the reason know to the CMO Rajouri.
Sarpanch, Khawas, Gian Chand Sharma said that worst is the condition of this road. Earlier, a Truck type Ambulance had been given to this PHC but it was withdrawn being very old. Later, an old Van type Ambulance was provided but this is lying out of order. It is without Insurance/ registration etc. The permanent driver of this hospital has been deputed to Nowshera Hospital. In case of delivery or any other emergency, people hire private vehicle s and pay huge money for shifting patients. Despite many requests to CMO and BMO concerned, the issue has not been resolved. The people of the area demand new big, 407/ Matador type ambulance as the road condition is very bad.
He further claimed that there was no X- Ray or Lab Technician posted there and no facility of this type is being provided to the public. There is strong demand of the people of the area of a Lady doctor and other technical/ para medical staff in this hospital. He also demanded posting of the driver back to this PHC and new Ambulance in this remote and far-flung area of the district.
