Srinagar Apr 18 : Residents of Khawajabagh area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today protested against the erratic power outages, claiming that unscheduled power cuts, particularly during Sehri and Iftar, are causing a lot of inconveniences.
Scores of women gathered in the area and raised slogans in support of their demands. They said that erratic power outages during Ramadan, particularly during Sehri and Iftar, are causing them inconvenience. “During this Holy month of Ramadan, we are experiencing unusual power outages. As a result, we have to eat Sehri by candlelight,” a protestor explained.
The protesting women said that the government has failed to provide round-the-clock electricity during Ramadan, and their area frequently reels under darkness. “Everyone cannot afford an inverter, so we have to eat our food under candlelight during sehri and iftar, which causes huge inconvenience,” another protestor said, adding that they face power outages despite paying large bills.
The protestors demanded uninterrupted power supply so that they do not suffer any further.
