JAMMU, July 14: Making a scathing attack on former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti for her irresponsible statement, the BJP national vice president and Prabhari J&K, Avinash Rai Khanna today accused her for her failure to work for the restoration of peace in the Valley after declaration of ceasefire by Union Government during the holy month of Ramzan.
Khanna, who reached here this morning was talking to reporters here on the side lines of the party meeting.

Terming it an immature and irresponsible statement on part of a former Chief Minister, Khanna said when she was heading the Government she failed to pay attention towards the development.
He said BJP had entered into alliance with PDP for development of the State and restoration of peace in the Valley. “The PM was so keen for the development of the State and welfare of its people that during the last four years he visited 12 times to this State and no other State of the country was as frequently visited by him during these four years’’, he added.
He said it was on Mehbooba ‘s demand that Centre agreed ceasefire on holy month of Ramzan and “we expected that she will go to people during this holy month and appeal them for peace which she did not’’, he added.
On the allegations of horse trading leveled by PDP leader, Khanna said BJP does not believe in that. “Our party believes in democracy and we did not indulge in horse trading any where in India including Karnatka.

“Instead of making allegations she should have taken the advantage and worked for good governance’’, he added.
Khanna said Centre from time to time cautioned Mehbooba that she should concentrate on development and peace which she did not with the result many development schemes and projects are still pending.
On installation of a Hindu Chief Minister in the State, Khanna said that in a democratic setup legislators decide who will be their leader and not the party.
On ordering of CBI probe into Rassana murder case, Khanna said that issue is sub-judice and he does not want to comment on that. However he said that no body should be subjected to injustice.
He said BJP wanted that J&K which suffered a lot due to turmoil of over two decades should be developed at par with other states of the country and total peace should prevail here. “It was with this intension that we gave financial package to both PoJK refugees as well as West Pak refugees who were neglected for last 65 years’’, he added.
