KATHUA, July 17: The irate residents of village Khandari near Gujru Nagrota held a protest demonstration against the mysterious death of house wife who consumed poison at her in laws residence in village Lakhri in Ramkote tehsil of Kathua district yesterday.
The protesters blocked the Dhar road from 1 pm to 4 pm demanding arrest of the husband of Seleh Devi, Danesh Kumar whom they held responsible for the death.
Later Choki officer Ramkote and SHO Billawar reached the spot and assured the protesters that they will investigate the matter and punish the culprits. As the people continued the protest and did not agree to lift the road blockade the police arrested the husband of Seleh Devi and registered a case under section 306 RPC against him under FIR number 53.
As per reports Seleh Devi had consumed poison yesterday at her residence and she was shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment where the doctors declared her as brought dead. As the news reached to village Khandari the people took to streets and blocked the Dhar road in protest demanding action against her husband.
