Jammu, Sept 4: Khalid Hussain, eminent Punjabi writer and a Jammuite has been bestowed the honour to be a visiting fellow to Department of Punjabi, Punjabi University, Patiala.
The well-known Punjabi short story writer, Khalid Hussain have become first Punjabi writer from the State of Jammu & Kashmir to get such a prestigious academic assignment. During his stay at Punjabi University, he interacted with Ph.D and M Phil scholars at gave them an overview of J&K’s Punjabi literature viz a viz the of Punjabi literature of the sub-continent and also how it reflects the unique socio-cultural ethos of the State.
He also read his short story during a lecture to Postgraduate students of Punjabi, which was followed by a critical appreciation of his craft and writing style that has striking use of idioms and proverbs.
Khalid Hussain, former member, Sahitya Akedemi’s Advisory Board for Punjabi, was also invited on September 2, 2012, for a special literary meet by Punjabi Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, wherein he read his latest short story.
