Srinagar, Mar 4: In a bid to boost eco-conservation at the tourist spots in Kashmir valley, the Kashmir Eco Tourism Club (KETC) today formally constituted its executive body with prominent businessman and social activist Sheikh Ashiq as its Chairman.
Active for the past over a year, the KETC is a consortium of various business houses of Kashmir, including those dealing with tourism industry. The club has organized several awareness camps and other events in collaboration with the divisional administration.
According to a statement issued here, the club elected its executive body with prominent tour operators namely Nasir Ahmed Shah of CNE Holidays and Shamim Shah of ShahTravels as vice-Chairmen.
“Sameer Ahmad Baktoo (ITC Kashmir) is the Secretary General, Yaseen Tuman(Mascot Travels), the Joint Secretary and Manzoor Pakthoon (Silk Rout Travels), the Treasurer of the organization,” the KETC statement read.
The newly elected body resolved for the eco-protection of tourist destinations in the Srinagar city and elsewhere in the Valley. “In wake of alarming climatic change which Kashmir witnessed this year, it has become inevitable for concerned citizens to be silent to the environmental degradation,” said the statement.
