Keri-Kangra-BG road incomplete since 3 decades

MENDHAR, Dec 5: Strong resentment is brewing among the residents against the failure of the authorities to undertake repair work on Harni- Galuta-Keri- Kangra Bhimber Gali (BG) road and complete the entire road by black topping.
The condition of the road is so bad that most of the operators have stopped to ply their vehicles on this road. The road at many places including Galuta, Harni, Keri Kangra and other villages is dotted with potholes posing risk of accidents.
The locals of Galuta, Mugal Hussain,Wahid Iqbal,Sherdil Khan and others said that the construction work of the road was started in the beginning of 1986, which was 14 km from Harni to Bhimber Gali. This road was to be constructed by the PWD Department and other agencies NABAD, BADP, State Plan included District Plan but till date the construction work of this road is incomplete.
A population of 50,000 uses this route and they are facing problems. They alleged that crores of rupees have been spent, but the road is in very bad shape. No leader, nor the Government has bothered about the miseries of the people.
“Despite approaching the concerned authorities no action was taken. We are suffering immensely due to dilapidated condition of the road,” a local said.
The villagers have invited attention of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and said that since 1986 the schemes under which this road was under taken could not reach the logical conclusion. A high level probe be ordered into the matter.
