JAMMU, Dec 13: Formidable Kerala defeated hosts Jammu and Kashmir by three goals to nil (3-0) to knock them out of the contest, while Assam crushed Dadar Nagar by thirteen goals to nil (13-0) to advance in the ongoing 63rd National School Games Under-17 Football Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports at various venues, here.
At MA Stadium, Kerala defeated Jammu and Kashmir by three goals to nil (3-0), thus advanced into the next round, while in another match at the same venue, Assam thrashed Dadar Nagar by a huge margin of thirteen goals to nil (13-0). For Assam, Adarsh scored 4 goals, while Joydeep netted 3 goals.
In yet another match at MA Stadium, West Bengal defeated Rajasthan by two goals to nil (2-0).
At BSF ground Paloura, Uttarakhand got the better of Chhattisgarh by four goals to one (4-1), Chandigarh defeated Uttar Pradesh by a solitary goal (1-0), Odisha drubbed Karnataka by two goals to nil (2-0).
At Jammu University, Jharkhand blanked Puducherry by five goals to nil (5-0) and IBSO got the better of Vidya Bharti by four goals to two (4-2).
At the two venues of Sainik School ground, Nagrota, Delhi thrashed CBSE by five goals to nil (5-0). Pawan scored 2 magnificent goals from Delhi, while in other matches at the same venue, Tripura trounced Andhra Pradesh by three goals to nil (3-0) and Manipur beat Bihar by (2-0).
In other matches played today, Gujarat outplayed Tamil Nadu by four goals to two (4-0) via tie-breaker, after the match ended in a tie (2-2) in the stipulated time, while Punjab got the better of Maharashtra by two goals to one (2-1) to advance into the next round.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Director Youth Services and Sports, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed. Various committees are functioning under the conveners for smooth and successful conduct of the Tournament.
