DODA, July 19: Reaching out to the nomadic tribes residing in high altitude meadows having little or no access to the basic medicare facilities, Kelly Memorial Society (KMS) organized a free medical camp at Jai Valley in additional district Bhadarwah.
Around 150 nomads were examined in this camp by a team of doctors of the NGO for different ailments. Free medicines were also distributed among them.
“Kelley Memorial Society is a Non Government and non profit organization working on relief and developmental projects in North West India. In the past it has been working on a huge scale to uplift people living below poverty line, beside organizing free medical camps across length and breadth of J&K”, said Willson John, Executive Member of the Society.
The camp at Jai Valley was organized for nomads living in high altitude meadows and are struggling with their health issues as they have not been able to afford their medicines, Willson said, adding that most of the patients were diagnosed with different sicknesses like anemia, cough, fever, diabetes, high blood pressure, gestritis, skin infection, upper respiratory, etc.
During the day long camp time, blood pressure, blood sugar, eye, ear and stomach were also checked.
Beside nomadic population, people from the surrounding villages also came to the camp for health check up.
Prominent volunteers who rendered their services during the camp include Umer Bashir, Alok Chauhan, James Cheedha, King Ji Koul, Willson John and Zameer Ahmad.
