Keeping structural material on roads to attract Rs 50,000 fine in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: House owners and commercial establishments, who keep debris or structural material on roads, lanes and parks, will be fined upto Rs 50,000 for causing impediment to free flow of pedestrian and traffic movement in this summer capital.

An official spokesperson here today said keeping debris or structural material on roads, lanes and parks will attract a fine of upto Rs 50,000 by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).

He said all defaulters are informed to immediately remove such debris/waste material within a week’s time. “Else charges under the Municipal Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 (Construction and Demolition Waste Management) shall be recovered for removing the material by the SMC,” he said.
