Keep check on power pilferage disconnect illegal connection: Pandey

JAMMU July 2: The Power Development Department has realized a revenue of Rs 165.78 crore upto ending June this year against Rs 103.02 crore recorded during the corresponding period last year thus registering a substantial increase of Rs 62.75 crore.
This was informed by Principal Secretary Power Development Department, Sudhanshu Pandey here today while chairing a review meeting of the department held to take stock of power scenario in Jammu division.
Development Commissioner Power Manzoor Salroo, Chief Engineer, SEO Wing Jammu, Ajay Gupta, Chief Engineer, M& RE wing, Shanaz Goni, besides Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers of Jammu division attended the meeting.
The Principal Secretary exhorted upon all the officers to put in every effort to streamline the power scenario in the division with emphasis on complete collection of revenue besides keeping a strict check on power pilferage. He asked them to disconnect all the illegal connections which are badly affecting the adequate power supply to the people who are genuinely and judiciously using the electricity.
Expressing concern over the big mismatch between power supplied and the revenue realized, Pandey strictly instructed the concerned officers to gear up their men and machinery to ensure that everyone deposit the power tariff as per the actual quantity of electricity they have used. He also appealed the people to clear their all pending electricity bills and cooperate with the department so that they could be supplied adequate power.
Mr. Pandey also directed the officers to keep a strict vigil over tempering of meters and initiate stringent action against the defaulters.
The revenue realization with respect to targets fixed for the year 2012-13 were discussed in length with divisional and Sub divisional officers.
Mr. Pandey exhorted upon the officers of the Power department to work with added zeal and dedication to come upto the expectations of the public.
