KCCI deputation calls on Civil Aviation Minister

SRINAGAR, June 28: A deputation led by President of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad called on Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, who is on State tour, here today. The deputation projected a charter of demands and sought intervention for their early redressal.
The demands include provision of International Civil Airport at Srinagar on the name of revered Sufi Saint Sheikh-ul-Alam, operation of international flights from the airport, installation of approach lights on the runway so that flights could be operated from early morning to late night, provision of scanners at drop gate of the airport for quick security clearance of the passengers, provision of adequate seating arrangement within the terminal building and waiting hall facility outside the terminal building for the convenience of passengers and enhancement of medical facilities to meet any exigency at the airport.
The deputation also projected that there should be a provision of four entry points into the main terminal building of the airport for the convenience of passengers.
The issues relating to facelift of Sher-i-Kashmir International Convocation Centre (SKICC), expansion of terminal building, Integrated Cargo Terminal and waive off charges to access cargo and reduction of air fare for Hajis of the state were also came under discussion during the meeting.
Giving patient hearing to the deputation, the Union Minister said that their genuine demands would be looked into and considered for redressal.
