Kazakh Ambassador calls on Governor

JAMMU: The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to India, Bulat Sarsenbayev called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here today.

During their hour-long meeting, the Governor and the Ambassador discussed various issues relating to the establishment of strong bi-lateral cultural, economic and defence cooperation between the two countries, an official spokesman said.

He said that the Governor suggested to the Ambassador to explore the possibility of early setting up of direct air link between the Kazakh capital and Srinagar via Leh as such connectivity will promote both tourism and economic links.

He also suggested the usefulness of collaborative linkages between the Centres for Central Asian Studies in Kashmir University with a corresponding institution in Kazakhstan, with a particular focus on the study of languages. (AGENCIES)
