JAMMU, Mar 7: Former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP senior leader, Kavinder Gupta along with MLC, Vikram Randhawa today toured Gandhi Nagar Constituency and kick-started various developmental works in Ward 20 in Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
Kavinder and Vikram started much awaited lanes and drains works in Shastri Nagar in Ward 20 to be executed by JMC at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. On the occasion, Jaideep Sharma, Vinay Gupta, K L Sharma, Master Tarsem, A.E.E, JMC, Ashok Sharma were among other prominent persons of the area present. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said that Union Government is committed to provide all basic amenities like adequate drinking water, power, education, healthcare facilities and other civic facilities to the people of all the three regions of the State especially the areas where there is lack of basic amenities to the public. He said the Gandhi Nagar Constituency is moving towards achieving the status of a Model Constituency. He said that project for the development and beautification of two parks at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore has been approved for Gandhi Nagar Constituency at Bhore Camp and Bag-e-Bahu Park.
He said we had been successful in getting the approvals for more than 3.5 crore projects for the up-gradation of lanes and drains for Sanjay Nagar, Shastri Nagar and some areas of Ashok Nagar, Satwari by the Governor Administration”.
Interacting with the people, Kavinder Gupta said that development programmes are underway in the Constituency with the aim to provide better amenities to the people. On the occasion, local people projected charter of demands which included construction and up-gradation of lanes and drains in the area. Gupta gave them patient hearing and assured them that work on all the approved projects will be started as early as possible. He said the construction work on various ongoing developmental projects is apace in the area but the need of the hour is to utilize 100 percent funds earmarked for the current fiscal. He asked the people to cooperate with the Government in implementation of developmental schemes and avail maximum benefits of schemes.
