Kavinder reviews power scenario in Jammu

JAMMU, July 11: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today convened a meeting with functionaries of PDD to review the power scenario in Jammu.
While taking Monsoon season into consideration, Gupta directed the concerned officers to adopt a proactive approach to avoid any inconvenience to the people. He also directed concerned officers to install new transformers and upgrade already existing ones along with respective poles and LT/HT cables in various parts of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
“Quality of work must be assured and all available sources must be implemented properly to obtain positive results”, he said. He further directed the officers to repair damaged and defective wires and poles and asked them to submit progress report of previous developments to his office.
Gupta asked the officers to enhance the height of LT/HT wires to reduce associated dangers besides taking up on priority the works of areas under hazardous conditions. He directed the concerned officers to take strict action against illegal connections.
Later, Gupta toured Channi Himmat area to take stock of  the grievances of the local residents. He interacted with locals at various places and gave patient hearing to their concerns.
During the interaction, residents apprised the Speaker on various problems being faced by them especially during rainy season. Locals told him that consistent faults in electricity supply and logging of water in the lanes during monsoon were causing inconvenience.
Gupta assured the locals that all their grievances will be taken into consideration and directed officers of concerned departments to take all the obligatory measures in this regard.
During his tour, Gupta also visited Government Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat. While addressing a gathering, he directed the concerned to develop a lawn in the school premises and urged them to plant more trees for a healthy environment. He also directed the authority to improve the sanitation amenities in the premises.
