Kavinder, Priya review progress on Jammu, Shiv Khori ropeway projects

JAMMU, Mar 4: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi jointly chaired a meeting here today to review the progress on Jammu and Shiv Khori ropeway projects.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmad Shah, IGP Jammu S D Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, MD JKCCC, Commissioner JMC, SSP Traffic, senior officers from District Administration Jammu and Reasi besides officials from all concerned departments were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Speaker evaluated the progress on Jammu Ropeway Project and discussed in detail various modalities regarding the on-ground execution of the project.
The Speaker while stressing the need for ensuring inclusive tourist-circuit development for Jammu said that Jammu Ropeway Project should be developed in alignment with surrounding tourist attractions so that the visitors can experience all that Jammu has to offer in unison.
He directed concerned officials to develop the existing sites keeping in view all future prospects for growth of tourism sector and account for the increased footfall expected in Jammu region in the coming years.
Stressing the need for linking all tourist spots and attractions in a common thread, Minister of State for Tourism, Priya Sethi said, “We have to ensure a world class visiting experience for tourists visiting the State and offer them a variety of activities to choose from.”
She said the Government is paying focused attention for development of a variety of tourism activities to offer to visitors including religious, adventure, heritage, recreational, scientific, theme based tourism.
Regarding the Jammu Ropeway project, the chair directed for special attention to be paid on initiating simultaneous work on all fronts regarding the project including the landscaping, recreational area development among others.
Various issues including parking area development for all three sites for Jammu Ropeway Project, beautification of route leading to destination points, ensuring availability of all necessary amenities to visitors, introducing battery operated vehicles for visitors on narrow lanes leading to the sites, development of food joints/courts at the standard of any commercial establishment, power requirement/ back up availability, water requirement /availability etc were discussed in the meeting.
