JAMMU, Feb 19: Speaker State Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta met Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM, Sushil Kumar Modi on the side lines of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association meet today.
The Speaker discussed several issues pertaining to the mechanism adopted by the Government of Bihar and J&K for the holistic development of the respective States.
Briefing about the prevailing situation in J&K, the Speaker said that J&K is all together witnessing a positive change on the scale of socio-economic development with the installation of BJP-PDP Government.
Gupta extended his invitation to the leaders for visiting Jammu and Kashmir and also urged them to promote and extend his support for motivating the tourists to explore the tourism avenues available in J&K through promotional events.
He said that the State has suffered economically and emotionally since last three decades and needed a clear visionary leadership in handling the affairs, which was made possible only with the coming of the BJP-PDP Government in the State.
Referring the recent incident of anti-Pakistan & pro-Indian slogans raised by the thousands of Kashmiri people who had gathered for the cremation of soldiers martyred in the Sunjwan attack, he said that Kashmiris are nationalist people and have given several sacrifices for upholding the sovereignty and integrity of the country but only due to some unfortunate incidents and provocative statements made by some vested interests they are taken otherwise.
He added that the youth have rejected the path of violence and came forward in good numbers to participate in the recent army and police recruitments, which is a very positive step in addressing the issue of unemployment and guiding the youth to participate in national growth
The Speaker also discussed the functioning of J&K Legislative Assembly and apprised them regarding the functioning of house committees along with the process adopted for making it paperless in the coming years.
