Jammu, Nov 5: “Athrot’, an organization managed by Kanwal Peshin and supported by Pradeep Pandita and Ravi Bhan, dedicated to the upliftment of cultural tradition of Kashmiri Pandit community today organised the grand finale of its talent hunt programme “Kashir Kalakar” where winners were given awards by the Speaker of the Assembly, Kavinder Gupta alongwith former Chief Secretary and Ex MLC Vijay Bakaya.
Forty children participated in the contest which included singing and dancing in both senior and junior category. The contest was judged by Ravi Bhan, PN Shad and Upender Ambardar while the programme was compered by well known actress Kusum Tikooo and Anil Koul Chingari. Roots in Kashmir, All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) and Tikalal Taploo Foundation (TTF) sponsored the function.
The winners among the participants in singing senior category include Pooja Pandita & Ankit Hashia (1st Prize), Sameekhsha (2nd), Vanshika Bhat, Kartik Kak (3rd), Upasna Chatha (4th) and Vidhan Raina (5th).
In Dancing Havish Raina & Chahat Pandita (1st), Shaina Raina (2nd), Haresh Raina & Vidhi Dhar (3rd), Raghav Pandita (4th) and Ashvi Koul (5th).
In Junior Singing Category Arg Raina and Chhavi Kouil (1st), Sannat Koul (2nd), Divya Bhat & Lavanya Koul (3rd), Krishna Bhat (4th) and Shreya Pandita (5th).
Veterans who were presented specially constituted awards on the occasion include Vinod Pandit, Chairman APMCC, (Guarav Samman for his initiative to revive Gangbal Yatra and revival of temples in Kashmir valley), Rahul Kilam was presented Kshemender Raina Award for Acting (Ek Aur Birbal), Ravi Bhan got Pt Jagan Nath Shiv Puri Samman for Music, Sandeep Koul was given Vijay Malla Award in singing category while Rakesh Roshan Bhat was presented Moti Lal Saqi Award for writing Ek Aur Birbal, Arjan Dev Majbhoor Award was given to Kundan Paras for Poetry, Chander Mohan Bhat got Kiriti Samman for Photography for his work on Kashmir temples and culture, Sanjay Dhar was awarded for his contribution towards KMECT by presenting with Pt Amarnath Vaishnavi Lok Sewa Samman, Rahul Wanchoo got Pt Omkar Nath Raina Memorial award as an upcoming artist, while Vomedh Theatre group was presented with Pt Shanti Koul Memorial Award.
Kusum Tikoo veteran artist was felicitated with Shardha Samman while PN Shad and Upender Ambardar were given special felicitation awards as Judges of the show.
Sanjay Ganjoo who composes Ladishah and works for the upliftment of cultural tradition in Jagti township was also given a special felicitation trophy for his work.
Addressing the audience Speaker Kavinder Gupta lauded the efforts of ‘Athrot’ and Kanwal Peshin for preserving the Kashmiri Language and culture through such initiatives.
APMCCC national spokesperson King C Bharati presented the vote of thanks while prominent personalities of the community who were present to witness the show include Ravinder Raina ASKPC, Sanjay Saraf (Lok Janshakti Party) Ashwani Chrangoo (Panun Kashmir) MK Yogi (NC Minority Cell), Aryan Ramesh AIKS and others.
