NEW DELHI, Aug 22: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today called on Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and discussed status regarding raising of border battalion, peace along International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC), besides prevailing political scenario in the Union Territory of J&K.
At the outset of the meeting, the BJP leader from J&K apprised the Defence Minister about current political scenario in the UT and the peace efforts being carried out to restore long lasting peace by the administration. He said that terrorism has considerably declined as it is on its last leg and soon tumult and turmoil will become things of the past. He said that the BJP cadre has been working proactively as there is complete synergy among the party workers starting from top hierarchy to down bottom.
Discussing about the much sought after issue of the border dwellers, Kavinder raised the point of border battalions as the same holds much significance among those residing near borders.
The Defence Minister, giving due focus to the matter, informed Kavinder Gupta, that his Ministry is already in the recruitment process of border battalions in the UT.
Kavinder and Defence Minister also held threadbare discussion on status of construction of bunkers along borders and about the timeline of remaining facilities for the border residents.
Kavinder also apprised Rajnath Singh about population lauding the policies and plans of BJP Government and the progress made on development front. He said that people are more than satisfied as Government has satiated their aspirations up to a level which was more than expected.
Rajnath after listening to the points raised by former Deputy Chief Minister and information divulged, expressed satisfaction over the recent developments taking place in the UT. He asked the BJP unit in J&K to continue with the good work as polls are round the corner and make it a point that cadre’s outreach to grassroots level will decide the exact parameters of party’s success in the upcoming political contests.
