JAMMU, Oct 17: The Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today said that holding of religious and cultural functions on festivals are keeping alive India’s rich culture, traditions and heritage and every such effort is laudable.
Kavinder Gupta was speaking last evening at a Dance Show organized by Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust in the temple premises as part of the Navratra Festival. The dances were choreographed on religious themes by Deepak of Dogra Higher Secondary School.
Yesterday evening was devoted to religious dance presentation by the schools while the dance contest on religious themes held this evening.
Highly impressed by the talented performance of the students of the School, the Speaker said that Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust has taken a commendable initiative to strengthen our rich religious and cultural values in the society and offered his full support for the success of Trust’s plans.
He agreed to fund the Trust’s development plan to lay a marble path from the gate to the main temple from his constituency development fund.
Earlier, the president of the Trust, Th Gulchain Singh Charak welcomed the chief guest and honoured him with ‘Mata Ki Chunni’ and a memento depicting the Temple complex.
Earlier, the students presented an absorbing dance presentation that enthralled the audience. The opening dance was Ganesh vandana, an invocation to Lord Ganesha, which was presented by a group of 26 girls.
The Krishan Raas Leela was an outstanding feat that thrilled the gathering. It was presented by 21 students. The Speaker announced cash award of Rs 2000 for the young artists of these two items for their excellent performance. He also distributed participation certificates and mementos to students and others.
