Kavinder calls for greater commitment towards ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’

JAMMU: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today emphasized on greater commitment towards ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ adding that the mission aims at providing better sanitation across the State.

Kavinder Gupta was speaking after inauguration of   Sophisticated Mechanized Cleaning and Sweeping machines worth Rs 4 lakh at Gandhi Nagar Government Hospital and 63 units of dustbins installed in and around Jammu Tawi Railway Station by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) at an estimated cost of Rs 11 lakh under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ Campaign.

The Speaker said that the government is committed to provide better health care facilities to the people at their door steps as well as clean and healthy environment.

 He assured that the hospital will be fully equipped with the modern sophisticated machinery to ease the burden in Medical College and its associated hospitals.

 The Speaker directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in and around the hospital premises and to treat patients with care and utmost professionalism.

NHPC officials informed the Speaker that the corporation is planning to take more initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to strengthen sanitation infrastructure across the state. They informed that the corporation will soon establish a Baby Feeding Unit at Jammu Tawi Railway Station for the convenience of mothers travelling in Indian Railways with infants.

          The Speaker emphasized that the benefits of the government scheme should percolate down to the grass roots level of the society. He urged people to come forward and avail benefits of these schemes.

Later, in connection with Baisakhi festival the Speaker visited Gurudwara Gangyal and attended a Langer (Baisakhi Mela) organized by Jammu Taxi Union B.C Road.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that the celebration of this festival is a shining example of glorious pluralistic traditions of India.

The Speaker said Baisakhi symbolizes harvesting of the hard labour and celebrating it with harmony and brotherhood which adds colour to its festivity. He said festivals like Baisakhi strengthen the bonds of love among people and nurture amity and harmony.

He stressed for active participation of people in the developmental process and their association with implementation of projects at all levels of execution for need based development.

Senior political leader Baldev Baloria, Chief Engineer NHPC Youngider Khote , Executive Director NHPC  S Kalgaonkar, Manager HR NHPC Ashok Dhanwal, Superintend Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and various other administrative officers were present on the occasions.
