Katra police cracks illegal racket of gold traders, arrests four

REASI, Dec 12: Police have cracked an illegal racket of gold traders by arresting four persons in Katra town here on Saturday.
On Friday night, Sub-Division Katra police received an information from reliable sources that few persons based at Delhi and Katra are running illegal business by bringing gold from Guwahati and thereafter making wrongful gain by selling it in illegal way.
“They were using three persons (as couriers) transporting gold from Guwahati area to other parts of India,” police added.
It is learnt that these persons have brought gold by illegal way to sell it in Katra and other places to make wrongful gain.
On receiving the information, police said that Sub-Division Katra police swung into action and as a result of this efforts on part of Katra police was able to apprehend four persons and recovered 1.5 Kg gold approximately, illegally kept by them in their possession for purpose of making wrongful gain by selling it. The total market value of the quantity as per gold rate on date is 80, 5037.40.
A case has been registered and investigation started.
The spokesman said that entire operation was carried out by SHO PS Katra Inspector, Sunil Sharma, Inspector Varinder Singh, I/C PP Banganga, SI Nazarat Hussain, ASI Ram Singh of PS Katra under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Kuljeet Singh, SP Katra, Amit Bhasin, SSP Reasi, Rashmi Wazir, and overall supervision of DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, Hqrs. Udhampur, Sujit Kumar.
