JAMMU, Sept 18: A delegation of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra, led by its president Rakesh Wazir and chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, called on Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation,   Mandeep Kaur and registered their resentment with regard to the move to construct a Slaughter House on way to Vaishno Devi ji having visibility from more than a kilometer on the main highway at Khanpur Nagrota.
Mr Wazir said that the whole economy of the State is dependent upon the Vaishno Devi pilgrims and if seen minutely this Slaughter House besides effecting the sentiments of the people will severely effect the yatra as well. He suggested that the proposed place being so beautiful, the Government should auction this site for some beautiful resort or other such item and a small portion of revenue generated out of it could be spent for taking land at an isolated place suitable for constructing a Slaughter House there and thus avoiding the objections of the locals as well as of the general public.
Mr Kesar said that the Government should make the entire route from Jammu to Katra free from Wine shops, Bars, Meat Shops, Slaughter houses etc.
The Commissioner Municipal Corporation listened to the delegation patiently and assured proper consideration in the matter.
The delegation, among others, comprised of Varinder Kesar, Harish Kumar Dubey, Karan Wazir, Ajay Kotwal, Nishant Sharma, Abdul Rashid, Sumit Khajuria, Rohit Dubey, Vivek Sharma, Amit Rahi, Vishal Sharma, Varun Gupta, Karnail Singh, Parbhat Singh and others.
