KATRA, Oct 7: The holy town Katra, base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, was today directly linked up with Mumbai and North East via Railway as the maiden trains from Bandra and Kamakhya in Assam reached here.
Bandra – Katra and Kamakhya-Katra trains, carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims reached Katra this evening and late night, respectively.
The two trains are being started initially on weekly basis and the service may be increased depending upon flow of pilgrims and traffic on the track, sources said.
Pertinent to mention that Katra was linked up with rest of the country via train network on July 5.
Besides daily service of Shri Shakti Express from Delhi, a number of other trains and DMU are being run on Katra route presently.
