Kathua remained neglected during BJP-PDP rule: Manohar

Excelsior Correspondent
KATHUA, July 3: Former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has alleged that Kathua district remained totally neglected on all the fronts during BJP-PDP regime.
Sharma who conducted 3- day extensive tour of Billawar constituency, took stock of developmental needs and public issues during public meetings held in different areas of the constituency. At Machhedi, Najote and Trapper villages he interacted with several local delegations and listened to the public issues. During interactions people apprised Manohar Lal of the problems being faced by them on day to day basis.
The people mainly complained about scarcity of ration especially wheat-flour in the ration depots, unemployment, low attendance in Government offices which is further adding to their woes.
While addressing the gatherings Dr Sharma criticized the mis-governance of BJP regime due to which common masses are facing and feeling deceived. He said among all the districts of the state, Kathua has suffered most neglect. He asked the reason why there has been no job advertisement for teachers post in Kathua district during last 4 years. Same has been the case in context of SPOs recruitment. Closure of RET scheme has further added to woes and despite directions from court no regularization of RET has taken place.
DCC chief said more than 62000 daily wagers who have completed more than 8 years in service are waiting for their regularization. The pending wages of workers have not been paid in various departments such as PDD, PWD, Irrigation, Forest, Fisheries etc.
Manohar lambasted previous BJP’s MLA from the area for inability to start work on Machhedi-Trapper road under PMGSY. He asked the District Administration to look into the matter of low attendance in Govt institutions in the area.
He termed the announcement of 3% reservation to IB people by present Government just an eye wash as mere 3% reservation will not solve the problems of about 3 lakhs people spread over 350 villages along International Border.
