Kathua police slaps PSA on lady drug peddler

KATHUA, Oct 29: District Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, apprehended one lady drug peddler namely Priya Devi wife of Kamlesh Kumar of Chak Drab Khan, Kathua tehsil and district Kathua who is habitual drug peddler involved in possession and transportation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in different NDPS cases at PS Kathua under Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged her in District Jail Kathua.
The arrest was made by a police team led by Inspector, Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO, Police Station (PS) Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarter Kathua, Manjeet Singh.  A detention warrant under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances PIT-NDPS Act- 1988 was issued against her by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu vide
order No. 49 of 2023 dated 12/10/2023.
In order to prevent the illegal activities in drug trafficking in the district,  dossier was  prepared against the accused lady and sent to the
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for her detention under PITNDPS Act- 1988 (PSA). Accordingly Divisional Commissioner, Jammu issued a detention warrant against the accused lady under PITNDPS Act. Accordingly, the warrant has been executed and she has been lodged in District Jail, Kathua to curtail her activities in drug peddling  so that the future of the youth of the district could be saved from the clutches of drug peddlers.
Locals of the Kathua district have appreciated the anti-drug initiative of Kathua Police.
