KATHUA, May 9: Kathua police today rescued three bovines in the jurisdictional area of Police Station (PS) Kathua near Berrian Pattan area and seized one vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier) involved in the smuggling of animals.
Police said today a team of PS Kathua led by Inspector, OP Chib, SHO PS Kathua on the directives of SSP Kathua, Romesh Chander Kotwal and under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar during naka checking duty near Berrian Pattan area noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier) bearing Registration No. PB10B-0788 enrouted from Punjab towards Berrian Pattan Naka Point via Ravi river which was being driven by an unknown person. During checking of the vehicle, three bovines were found loaded in it mercilessly which were rescued and the vehicle involved was seized on the spot. All the three bovines (03 oxen) were rescued. An instant case has been registered at PS Kathua vide FIR No. 180/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11/PCA act while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
