KATHUA, June 3: A live mortar was today defused near DCB on International Border (IB) in Hiranagar Sector.
Police said reliable information was received regarding a live mortar shell which was found from the house of Jagdish Singh, son of Raj Singh of Karol Bidho Hiranagar near DCB along International Border Hiranagar. On preliminary questioning, the person said that he found this mortar inside the mud pile and informed to Police. Accordingly, under the supervision of R.C. Kotwal, SSP Kathua, a joint team of Police and BSF headed by Satish Kumar, DySP Operation and Sachit Mahajan, SDPO Border reached the spot and cordoned off the area and later on the mortar was diffused by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and handed over to the Police Station Hiranagar for further investigation.
