KATHUA, Jan 23: In association with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the J&K Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today organized an awareness session on “Investing in Stock Market” in The Management School, Kathua Campus.
The Session was conducted by Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Regional Manager, Investor Protection Fund (IPF) Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). After throwing light on historical evolution of BSE and Stock exchanges in India, he focused on importance of analyzing company performance before investing in the share market. He also explained different investment methods and planning a secure investment. He explained different aspects of Stock Market activities including Do’s and Don’ts for the Investors, Trading, Settlement and Risk Management.
Mr Singh also informed about the recently launched Rajiv Gandhi Equity Saving Scheme for Tax saving benefits, primarily for the new investor having an annual Income of less than or equal to Rs 10 lakh.
Prof B C Sharma, Dean Students Placement, who was special guest at the session, informed about the Preamble of SEBI to protect the interests of investors.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu presided over the session. She welcomed all the dignitaries and thanked CII J&K State Council for organizing a session on such an important topic in the Kathua Campus, Jammu University. She said that all efforts of Kathua Campus are directed in bringing about improvements in all aspects of institutional functioning. Prof Rohmetra stressed on the need of more interactions from corporate experts with students.
The session was followed by a Q&A session and was attended by all the students and faculty members of Kathua Campus of Jammu University.
Gagandeep Singh Kamra from Confederation of Indian Industries, J&K was also present in the session and presented vote of thanks.
