JAMMU, Feb 18: Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL) is organizing a two- day workshop on “Conscious leadership and Social change”.
The workshop which is being attended by over 100 students from Kathua Campus, ICCCR & HRM and MA Rural Development, University of Jammu, was inaugurated by Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus & Director, ICCCR & HRM. Ashima Kaul, who is also the founding director of Yakjah, was the special resource person and trainer for the workshop.
Ashima Kaul, the Key Resource Person, underlined the need to create a new leadership for an emerging future, a leadership that transforms Business, Politics, Society and Self. She said educational institutions have to impart education that provides opportunities to youth to equip them with skills and knowledge so that they are able to deal with difficult situations.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus and Director, ICCCR & HRM, in her inspirational speech, shared the Mantra of success and progress in life. She emphasized that irrespective of one’s hierarchial level, everyone should work consciously in life towards bringing a desirable changes in life. She emphasized that the purpose of life is to contribute towards making a significant change, explore ourselves and bringing a small change in our own way. Also, she highlighted that leader is within and one should be clear in his objectives in his life.
“The world remembers you even after ages if you are confident, hardworking and sincere in anything you chose to do or any pursuit of your life. That is also the Mantra of success,” said Prof Rohmetra who has recently been appointed as the first women Director of IIM Sirmour (HP).
While welcoming the participants, Dr. Kavita Suri, Director and Head, DLL, said that there is a dire need to fill the gaps in terms of academic pursuits for the betterment of student community.
Dr Vivek Sharma, Assistant Professor, DLL presented a formal Vote of thanks. Suman Pal, former Station Director All India Radio Rohtak and Jullundhar, Sumit Sharma, Programme Executive, AIR Dharamsala, faculty members of DLL and Kathua Campus and ICCCR & HRM, including Dr Jyoti, Dr Pallavi Arora and others were also present on the occasion.
