Kathua Bar submits memorandum to LG

KATHUA, Sept 9: The delegation of District Bar Association Kathua led by its president Ajat Shatru Sharma submitted a memorandum to Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha regarding their demands and suggestions for the welfare of lawyers of J&K UT and general developmental and governance issues relating to Kathua district during his visit to Kathua today.
There were various demands and suggestion which are required for welfare of advocates in particular and other development issues for Kathua in general which includes creation of separate annual fund for the Medical Insurance and Term Insurance of advocates on the similar pattern of Delhi Government and creation of separate fund of Rs.50 Crore under Chief Minister Advocates Welfare Scheme of Delhi, for extension of the Consumer Protection Act 2019 to the J&K UT and early constitution and functioning of district consumer disputes redressal bodies in the J&K UT.
The memorandum demanded shifting of Registrar/Sub-Registrar Office and Office of Juvenile Justice Board from current location to Government building located in the Veterinary Hospital Complex Kathua adjoining District Court Complex Kathua, enactment of Advocates Protection Act, creation of separate and full time Revenue Courts or in alternative creation of District Revenue Tribunals for the disposal of revenue case relating to agrarian reforms, postal delivery of all domicile certificates (Online and offline both) should be started on the pattern of delivery registration certificate by post by the office of RTOs to the applicants, full exemption of toll for the local residents residing within a distance of 20 Kms from the NHAI Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur (Kathua).
It demanded beautification of Kathua town and other adjoining areas with proper uniform planning by implementing master plan for Kathua which is still pending before the Housing and Urban Development Department, Up-gradation of Railway Station, Kathua on the pattern of smart platform with stoppage of two important Trains (Shri Shakti Express and Delhi Katra Vande Bharat Express for the pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi from Kathua and adjoining area, sanctioning of Indoor Stadium for Kathua Headquarter, Mahatma Gandhi (Child and Maternity) Hospital Kathua be made fully functional with 24×7 medical OPD in shift wise, already sanctioned Inter State Bus Stand for Kathua be made fully functional, identification and development of different parking slots within the Kathua town to avoid nuisance and traffic congestion with Multistory parking, direct road connectivity from the main city to proposed Government Medical College Kathua, flyover/roundabouts near twin entry points of Kathua city i.e. Kalibari and Hatli Morh on NH-44 and development of the canal in front of Government Degree College to Dream Land Park from the Tourism view point etc.
President of Bar, Ajat Shatru Sharma also requested the Lt. Governor to consider their demands and suggestions by passing appropriate directions to the concerned Government departments as early as possible in interest of lawyers in particular and for general public of district Kathua in general.
