SRINAGAR, May 4: The Sikhs in Kashmir today protested against the acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
Peaceful protests were organized by various Sikh organizations under the banner of ‘Gurmat Taksal’ various places by Sikhs.
“The person was responsible for inciting crowd and killing of thousands of innocent Sikhs in 1984, it was a Sikh genocide in Delhi,” the protesters said.
They shouted that the particular minority community’s sentiments were hurt and by this the community has lost the faith on Indian democracy.
The Sikh protesters appealed the Government to take strong steps against Sajjan Kumar and other involved in 1984 riots. “We are against for playing politics over the 1984 riots, where thousands of Sikhs lost their lives,” the protesters said.
Meanwhile, the protesters also condemned the brutal attacks on prisoners by some motivated prisoners across the borders.
