JAMMU, Mar 21: Naqaib Rang Manch presented Kashmiri play ‘Rath Mein Kangar Whuch Mein Dhouv’ as the fourth production of the ongoing Annual Drama Festival being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, at the auditorium of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Written by S Nath and directed by Vijay Dhar, the comic play revolved around a happy-go-lucky Kashmiri girl Truchh who after the death of her mother is being looked after by Taslema, a Muslim lady. Truchh has big dream and she aspires to become a film heroine, singer and leader etc but fails to succeed in any of her ventures. Her two tenants ‘Yakka’ and ‘Duchha’ feel jealous. The play full of joy and humour takes queer turns and ends up with the message to the community to instead blaming others; it must work hard to succeed in life.
The mandate of Academy in holding of such annual theatre festivals was fulfilled as today’s cast of actors comprised of all green horns who were acting on the stage for the first time. The play was marked by overtly dramatic body movements, witty dialogue with hilarious punch lines that were appreciated by the audience.
Those who acted included Bimla Naqaib as Ded, Sameer Qasba as Yakka, Rakesh Bhat as Duchha, Jatinder Jotshi as Rozy Bhabhi, Ramesh Kaul as Pritam Singh, Ajay Bharti as Radha Krishan, Rajesh Khar as Sajen Dhar, Shashi Naqaib as Truchh and Raj Kumar Bhat as Doctor. Ajay Kumar assisted in direction while music was by Rajesh Khar.
Director Doordarshan, Shabir Mujahid congratulated young actors for their hard work and said that stage is the best training ground for all those who want to make acting as their calling of heart.
