SRINAGAR: Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi today discussed with Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti the measures to be taken to ensure early return of peace and normalcy in Kashmir, where life remained crippled for the past 74 days due to restrictions and strike.

They also discussed the fidayeen attack on Army Brigade headquarters at Uri in which 18 soldiers were killed and as many were wounded on September 18.

An official spokesperson said Mr Mehrishi met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan here. He said the Governor and the Home Secretary held extensive discussions about the security situation consequent to the recent terror attack at the Army Camp in Uri and about issues relating to the restoration of normalcy in the State.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Secretary also called on the Chief Minister to discuss the prevailing situation in the Valley. Mr Mehrishi held detailed deliberations with the Chief Minister over the law and order situation and the measures to be taken to ensure early return of peace and normalcy in Kashmir. (AGENCIES)
